Giving Youth A Head Start!

In a world striving for equality, it is imperative we address the wealth gap, especially for black youth growing up in poverty. The journey towards financial empowerment begins with cultivating financial literacy early on.

Mellody Hobson emphasizes that initiating conversations about money with your children is a valuable endeavor regardless of their age. To address disparities in low-income communities, our initial approach involves incorporating middle school students into the inaugural financial literacy workshop as a pivotal step.

This fall, we launched our very first financial literacy workshop tailored for middle school and high school students. The objective was to provide these students with an opportunity to learn essential principles of everyday finances, covering topics such as budgeting, credit management, banking, investing, and entrepreneurship.

This was a joint initiative where we teaming up with local financial institutions, securing their assistance in facilitating each session. They guided the workshops with dynamic and interactive activities, purposefully designed to captivate students' interest and facilitate the transfer of knowledge for effective learning.

This initiative will assist many middle and high school students with valuable tools and skills to help them build their financial future.
